Dear parents and guardians,

 

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Elana Waldman and I will be your child's new teacher starting on February 24 until the end of the school year!

 

I hold a B.F.A. from York University, B.Ed. from the University of Manitoba and a class 6 Manitoba teaching certificate. I have taught Kindergarten for the past two years.

 

In February the students have been working on long and short vowel sounds, blended sounds (diagraphs), consonant sounds and before and after in English Language Arts. In math, they have been working on place value (ones and tens), addition and subtraction and skip counting by 2s,5s and 10s. In science, they are working on seasons (how trees change in different seasons). In social studies they have been continuing to work on maps and directions.

 

As we enter into March I have many educational and artistic activities planned and I look forward to meeting all of you at the end of March for parent teacher meetings which will include student-led interviews. This is where your child will lead you through their classroom to show you what their routine is like and what they have learned so far in school!

 

It is my pleasure to get the opportunity to teach your child.
